Lyn Hewitson was born in the mid ‘50’s and grew up in the North Island of New Zealand.
Travel and family commitments in those early years meant limited time to develop as an artist while studying art and design subjects in the UK and NZ.
The new millennium and relocation to the Waikato Region of New Zealand lead to the establishment of a multi-award winning Gallery. Over the following years she hosted a
Regional Arts television Show, exhibition organisation, judging, mentoring, tutoring and public speaking on arts related subjects.
From 2004 a refocus on her own arts career and extended period of travel resulted in artist residencies and exhibitions in Italy, Germany and the UK.
In 2009 the artist, settled in a small picturesque Midlands village of Woodford close to the Kettering Buccleuch Acaemy where she immersed herself in the Role of Artist
in Residence - described by Hewitson as " simply the best job in the world ".
The unique opportunities in that role included close association with the Duke of Buccleuch Boughton House Estate. This created many unique opportunites including a
place on the Heritage Interpretation Panel for the Conservation project of the Montagu Monuments, and the opportunity to offer workshop experiences to both students and the public .
Lyn was also given the role of creating large visual displays for the Learning Environment of the Academy.
Returning to NZ in late 2017 and establishing a new studio in the southland region of the South Island, the artist is now working on a new series of work with future
exhibitions already in the planning .
